Hi,

Thank you for booking your stay at Cedarwood Hideaway.

Check-in is at 3:00 and Check-out is at 11:00. Let us know if you’d like to adjust it. Sometimes it can work out.

You’ll want to bring a cooler for food with fresh ice and plenty of drinking water.

We do have utility water at the sink for hand and dish washing. We also have some emergency drinking water in case you run out.

There will be a Welcome notebook on the table when you arrive. In it is information on the cabin, solar lights, local dining, shopping and activities. All of that info can also be found on our website: twoharborshideaways.com. See Guest Information dropdown menu under Cedarwood Hideaway.

We provide breakfast bars, oatmeal, pancake mix, Duluth Coffee Company coffee and plenty of firewood for fire pit and fireplace use.

Let us know if you’re bringing any four-legged friends.

Welcome to Cedarwood Hideaway (This hard-copy information is in the binder at the cabin):

Two Harbors, Minnesota

Feel free to use everything in the cabin and shed.

The Lock Box – Needs to be “reset” and code (****) punched in again to close. Please keep key in lock box.

Solar Power -  There are two things to pay attention to: the Charge Controller and the Power Converter. They are located in the bedroom by the wardrobe. The charge controller displays the battery charge - 14.8 is a full charge. The power converter has an on/off switch. Check that switch if the power is out when you arrive. You can charge phones and plug in your computers as long as the batteries have power.

If the fan in the Power Converter is too loud for you at night, you can turn it off. Also, if you leave for the day, turning off the Power Converter will conserve energy until you get back.

The gas furnace - will remain off during the summer months.  Once on, simply adjust the numbered dial to your comfort level. When you leave, please set the dial to “1”.

The wood stove - This stove is VERY efficient, please read up on it in our “instructions” section before you light it.

The faucet on the sink is chargeable.  There is a backup faucet in the large cabinet. Should it stop working, replace the faucet and recharge the old one, please. There is a cord in a “utility” drawer that can be plugged into the USB outlet on the tall lantern or plug it into an outlet.

Utility water supply – Utility water (not for drinking) is pumped to the faucet from 2.5 gallon jugs beneath the sink.  You can switch an empty jug out for a full one. Please let us know if you need additional water.

Trails – It is best to stay on the trails.  They are marked with colored paint and there are laminated maps in the binder and out on the trails at intersections.

Coffee -There are instructions for making “pour-over” coffee in the cupboard.  Our coffee is blended and packaged (directly from fair trade sources) by Duluth Coffee Company in Duluth. We grind it just before bringing it to you.

Cookware – All gold colored “Gotham” cookware is safe, non-toxic (free of PFOA, PFOS, lead and cadmium) and can be used with no or very little oil.

Please NEVER USE COOKING SPRAY on these pots and pans as it will ruin them.  They also heat up well, so lower heat settings are best.

Campfire – When using the campfire be sure to attend it at all times and put the fire out before leaving it.  Fire information can be found at the state and county links on our home page at twoharborshideaways.com.

Garbage – The paper lined receptacle is for recyclable materials: aluminum,  glass, paper and cardboard. Those items need to be clean/rinsed. Clean grocery bags can be placed in the tall cabinet to be reused. The shed has an overflow garbage container for your use should you fill the ones inside the cabin. If you only filled one bag you can leave it in the cabin at checkout.

Gas grill – Always have lid open when starting and stopping the grill.  Turn gas burner to on and push ignition to start.  A full propane tank is at your disposal in the shed should the existing tank run out.

Charcoal Grill –  The small Weber grill and supplies are located in the shed.

Yard Games – Are located in the shed.

Lounge Chairs – for night sky viewing are also in the shed.

Dog clean up – There is a 5 gallon bucket in or near the shed for dog waste.

Backup Products are in the cabinets – be sure to snoop around to see where everything is.

We live nearby and would be happy to help with anything that might come up, so don’t hesitate to reach out.
