Welcome to Riverwood Hideaway!

Two Harbors, Minnesota

Feel free to use everything in the cabin.

The Lock Box – Needs to be “reset” and code (2570) punched again to close.  Please leave key in lock box.

The gas fireplace is a furnace, so it will run as needed when you adjust the thermostat (on the wall behind the door) to a warmer setting.

Solar Power -  There are two things to pay attention to: the Charge Controller (on the wall above the bench) and the Power Converter (red box inside the bench). The charge controller displays the battery charge - 14.8 is a full charge. The power converter has an on/off switch. Check that switch if the power is out when you arrive. You can charge phones and plug in your computers as long as the batteries have power.

If the fan in the Power Converter is too loud for you at night, you can turn it off. Also, if you leave for the day, turning off the Power Converter will conserve energy until you get back.

BroadBand Internet -  WiFi password: 534@tomberg

Internet service will be on when you arrive. If you’d rather not use the internet service, please shut off the powerstrip under the nightstand to conserve energy.

The faucet on the sink is rechargeable.  It will be fully charged upon your arrival. Should it stop working, there is a charged back - up in the large cabinet and charging cords in the drawer to the left of the sink.

Utility water supply – Utility water (not for drinking) is pumped to the faucet from 2.5 gallon jugs beneath the sink.  You can switch an empty jug out for a full one.  Please let us know if you need additional water.

The waste-water system is also under the sink and must be monitored so that it does not overflow.  Put an empty bucket (there is a cleaning bucket) under the drain while you dump the full one out in the woods as far from the cabin and trails as you can.  You can take it up the driveway and into the woods along the edge or out away from trails because it may attract nuisance animals (including bears).

Propane Refrigerator - The fridge should be on when you arrive. Feel free to adjust the temperature. Check to see that it’s still on periodically. If it should go off (the red needle is to the left and it’s not cold), push the red “lipstick” button in and hold it. Then press the button with the electric bolt in red that is to the left. It should ignite right away - you’ll hear it. Slowly release the lipstick button. Watch the red needle move towards the middle. If that doesn’t work, let us know. If you don’t plan on using it, please turn it off by turning the gray dial counter-clockwise until it stops.

Trails – It is best to stay on the trails near the cabin and river.  There is a river access trail just beyond the timber swing where the bank is less steep than the upper entry point.  Be cautious when water is high or ice may be thin.  We will be developing additional trails over time and grooming some snowshoe trails for winter use.

Coffee -There are instructions for making “pour-over” coffee in the cupboard.  We purchase local Duluth Coffee (fair trade sourced beans) and grind it fresh for you.

Cookware – All gold colored “Gotham” cookware is safe, non-toxic (free of PFOA, PFOS, lead and cadmium) and can be used with no or very little oil.  Please NEVER USE COOKING SPRAY on these pots and pans as it will ruin them.  They also heat up well, so lower heat settings are best.

Kitchen countertop – Only use a tiny bit of soap to clean the countertop.  Ammonia-based products can ruin the surface.  ALSO PLEASE don't put large heavy objects (coolers etc) there as they scratch the surface.

Campfire – When using the campfire (so long as there are no fire bans in effect) be sure to attend to it at all times and put the fire out before leaving it.  Fire information can be found at the state and county links on our home page at twoharborshideaways.com.

Garbage – Containers are in the pull-out drawer to the left of the sink.  The paper lined receptacle is for recyclable materials: aluminum, glass, paper and cardboard.  Clean plastic grocery bags can be placed in the tall cabinet to be reused.  The shed has a garbage container for your use should you need an overflow receptacle. At checkout, you may leave garbage in the house.  PLEASE DO NOT THROW ANY GARBAGE IN THE PRIVY OR FIRE PIT.

Gas grill – Always have lid open when starting and stopping the grill.  Turn gas burner to on and push ignition to start.  A full propane tank is at your disposal in the shed should the existing tank run out.

Charcoal Grill –  The small Weber grill and supplies are located in the shed.

Yard Games –.  Some games are located behind the door in the cabin.

Shed - Extra propane tank, charcoal, lawn chairs, kindling and fire starters... all for your use.

Backup Products are in the cabinets – be sure to snoop around to see where everything is!

Dog Supplies – Including treats and old towels should your pet get wet: located in the tall cabinet.

We live nearby and would be happy to help with anything that might come up, so don’t hesitate to reach out.
