Trail Time!

Now that we’re settling into winter, and having more time on my hands, I’ve been out flagging and mapping new trails at Cedarwood Hideaway. Most of the 19+ acre property displays beautiful mixed forests of hardwoods, spruce, and fir. Even in the emptiness of winter, these woods are still so magical.

We have two trails on the property so far (red and green, shown on the map), which is meant to be a shorter, yet scenic loop. This loop is roughly one-third of a mile (.35 mi).

The red trail is actually an old 4 wheel trail right off the main driveway, and is a wider, more established trail.  The other trails, current and future, were recently blazed and may be rough at times, so good shoes/boots and trail ambition are recommended for these treks. We will always try to keep them easily accessible, and improve them over time.

Today, I began a longer loop marked in blue, extending south-east / east of the green trail. This trail will extend to near the north-east corner, and will also be around  one-third of a mile (.35 mi). The red-blue loop will be roughly two-thirds of a mile (.65 mi). Blue is definitely the longest trail, so the other two trails planned will be a piece of cake to flag. I hope to be finished with the blue trail tomorrow, and the rest flagged and mapped out by next week.

We will have trail maps in most corners of the trail system, and copies of the map in the cabin. Im excited to help share this beautiful land with others looking to get away!
